Proofing
Ensuring quality and confidence
We take the quality of our work, and your satisfaction very seriously. That’s why we put extra effort into proofing your project. Proofing is the process of checking the files, and sharing them with you for your approval. Every job that comes in the door we examine carefully for possible issues that may come up. Our expertise and experience helps us to identify file and formatting errors. If we detect any potential issues, we’ll contact you prior to showing you a proof.
Proofs you’ll flip over
Our special page-flipping proofs make it easier for you to experience your book’s formatting prior to printing it. Since you are creating a pdf of single pages, this allows you to actually see what it will feel like when it’s all put together as a book. This helps you confirm your files are working as you want them — giving you a better sense of page breaks, how each new section begins, and whether there is enough clear space around the edge of the pages. Our page-flipping proofs allow you to move around your book at will, and provide the opportunity to make any revisions that are necessary. While we don’t charge a fee for minor revisions you may want to make after reviewing your proof, significant revisions may require a small fee.
When visuals are critical
If you are creating a book where visuals are critical, please contact us about any concerns you may have. With One Book at a Time, you won’t talk with a customer service rep who doesn’t know your job, you’ll discuss the job with an expert book printer who will review any possible printing issues with your specific project. They’re able to review image quality, font art, and even the paper and book size you’ve chosen. Because printing on paper looks different than what you see on an electronic screen, we can print a sample page on your chosen paper to test for color and contrast for an additional fee.
